According to a recent survey renovating your house is more appealing than moving completely, an attitude which has grown in popularity since the recent economical crisis.
The research highlighted that 80% of people are "worried" about the financial cost of moving and a further 67% of people would consider renovating their property over moving home, although 8% of people said that they would find this "too stressful."
This opinion comes as no surprise as banks have become reluctant to offer higher mortgages and the associated costs of moving have rocketed in recent years.
Mrs. White in Kent commented, "I wanted to move as my bathroom was too small for my 5 people family. After looking at my options it was clear that the only option was to remodel my upstairs to make the bathroom bigger and more modern. I am so pleased with the results; the builder recommended a new suite from the cost effective roca bathrooms range installed alongside matki showers which turned out to be so much cheaper than the costs of moving! He also added a lot of extra space which has made the world of difference."
Many others have also seen the benefits of renovating rather than moving. Mr. Sidley in Herefordshire stated, "I didn't know that I could use my loft to gain 30% extra space in my home. I turned it into a fourth bedroom and study. The costs were cheaper than I expected and it is no wonder that people are turning to renovation over the upheaval of moving completely."
Surprisingly, on average a renovation will take 7 days which many people in the study said they were "surprised " at, because traditionally renovation is associated with months of living in dust. With many builders willing to take on projects like this for pocket friendly costs, this myth is now something of the past.
